I should be able to handle moving, I was a military brat, then a military spouse–I moved all my life! But this move has made me crazy! I can’t find anything, and everything I do unbox is stuff I don’t need right now. Kiddo and I packed everything ourselves, carefully labeling, identifying, and tracking each box online. So what happened? Where’s my yarn and my stapler? I need those things now! All I found in the box I thought contained my stapler was four hardback bathroom books (you know, the books with all the crazy facts that are for that special little room), a fan, my stuffed cow and bear, and a huge amount of power/charging cords that are unidentified as to what they power or charge. I shoved those in a drawer, just like before. If I have so many things that don’t need cords, where did all these cords come from?? I guess I’ll put them with all the owner’s manuals for stuff we no longer own.

All this brings me to why Summerbird’s Quest still isn’t out. Every time I get a few moments, I run into my office (I set up my computer early, of course) to read and edit. I do that for as long as my conscience will let me–we’re living with wall-to-wall boxes! My bedroom looks like a warehouse. In fact, the entire house does. The cats love all the boxes–most have been opened as we try to figure out what’s in them. The furballs jump from one to another, hide, play–kitty heaven. Which is nice since they don’t have a catio yet. They really miss the one at the other house.

Moving from the mountains to the middle of the city has also taken some getting used to. Before we moved to the mountains, we lived on the west side of town, which is as far from the hustle of city life as the mountains (on the other side of the city) are. July 4th reminded us we are here, amid it all, worrying about our roof being lit up and calming down freaked-out kitties! Of course, having stores and restaurants nearby is a mixed blessing. We’ll take advantage of it now, since we can’t find most of the pots we need or the food we boxed up. But we don’t need all that food delivered!

That’s it for this little update. I do miss blogging with all of you; I love comments from readers, even the bad ones, if you’re willing to discuss the issue! And I really enjoy sharing experiences–it’s amazing how those who live in other countries have so many similar things going on in their lives. Hopefully, the next time we meet up, it will be for me to announce Summerbird’s sequel is finally out there, ready to devour! And this is a big one–she has a lot of things to learn other than her magic, and she needs a different scenario/monster in which to do it!

That’s it for now. See you in your imagination!
