Mayra. I’m not complicated. I am a powerful Ring-Witch. I’ve earned my place with a clan of savage reevers–my family–and they’ve learned not to treat me like a child. I ride at the Warlord’s side; I keep his secrets and have his confidence. He’s as good as raised me these last eleven years. An unknown enemy has attacked our realm and. we’re ordered to fix it. The last thing I suddenly need in my well-ordered life is a dangerous man with ice-blue eyes and a body that snatches my breath away. I don’t need another man with secrets. Why does this one have to have a smile that makes me forget what I was talking about?

Dragon’s Revenge

Mayra. Did I ever believe I’d find a mate–a brawny black-haired, ice-blue-eyed assassin with a wonderful secret? And then find myself bonded to a massive, savage black dragon who thinks I’m his daughter? No…but it’s obviously what my life was missing! Now all we have to do is return to Gaulte’s aerie with the males of his clan and figure out where blue humans (?!) have hidden their mates and younglings. Easy! We’ve got dragons! My fellow witches and my delicious mate mount up with me and we fly into the icy north where dragons live…right into the biggest trap anyone has ever fallen into. One bat-s**t crazy dragon, his insane minions, an endless cave system… this has fun written all over it!

Wolfe. Winning a small elfish mate was supposed to help me find my contented life. Why am I riding a dragon north, freezing off certain parts of my body, parts I am very fond of? Then, I see the lights sparkle in Mayra’s slivery-gray eyes and realize how happy she is, how much she loves this. She is bonded with a terrifying black dragon, and through that bond, he and I have an understanding. He can think of her as his child, but she is my woman. My mate. Mine. And believe me, sharing is f**king difficult. But once we find ourselves trapped by a crazy dragon and his crazier sycophants, I find some comfort in knowing I’m not the only one looking after my lady. And Gaulte is one pissed-off dragon.

Gaulte. I am the mighty prime dragon of the powerful Ceshon aerie. My mate and younglings have been stolen by vile blue humans I will now hunt and kill. I was a peaceful dragon, caring for my clan and aerie. Now, I am not. I was taken to another realm and made to kill and maim until a tiny human saved me. She is a Ring-Witch, from the lore of old, and she and her mate freed the enslaved males of my clan. Now, they will help me find the aerie’s females and younglings. And then I will try to explain to my beautiful, savage red mate…how I became bonded with that tiny human. But first, I have a dragon to kill.

This was the first cover of Dragon’s Revenge.

Which do you prefer? Let me know, and I’ll pass that on to my artist, Adriana, who did both covers.

Summerbird’s Quest is going through its last edit and should be out by the end of October, fingers crossed!

Love you all and thanks for your notes and kind words.

      Hi Hanne,
You’re on my ‘first copies out’ list. I can’t wait for you to see how your poem fits into the scene with the Riddle Tree. The characters are so puzzled and end up cheating to get the answer. But when you know the answer, it all fits together! Thank you so much for that.
