I’m getting so many comments about the length of Summerbird’s Quest! And believe it or not, all have been positive so far! Being part of this wonderful Fantasy book sale gives me a chance to address its length. At approximately 1500 pages, I could have broken it into two or even three volumes, but the characters and plots wouldn’t let me.
Says one reader: “The length of the book boggled me at first, but that’s what long, cold winters are for. As soon as I started reading it, I was completely pulled in. It’s magical, and I’m enthralled. I can’t stop turning pages! Summerbird has grown up so much since the first book. Her character isn’t what I expected—all girly and lovey over the Otter–no, she’s strong and commanding. I finished it long before I thought I would—and I cried three times at scenes I still can’t forget! If you want to sit down with a book that will grab you and not let go, this book is for you.” Thank you so much, E.B.
With Summerbird separated from her lifemate, the Otter, she fears she’ll have to rely on her friends….or so she thinks. As they trek through Emythor’s wildings, she can feel her magic changing, grabbing power from ley-lines as it slowly alters her. As the travelers continue their quest, they encounter one terrifying event after another on a near-daily basis. Sad to say, few of these are pleasant events, and not everyone makes it out unscathed. Something is following the group, trying desperately to kill them or at least prevent them from reaching their destination. When they’re attacked by deadly, armed men, Summerbird can no longer ignore the strange sensations within her; she strikes out at their attackers in a terrifying demonstration of raw—and horrific—power. The many frightening and elating adventures Summerbird and her friends go through are to prepare them for what Treaty, the entity that created Emythor, has waiting for Summerbird and the Otter.
But first, she must learn who—and what—she really is…
