Alas…the End is in Sight

I’m winding up “Dragon’s Revenge,” which is the sequel to “Dragon Rings.” Denouements can be difficult, not as a final product—the book—but as the end of what I’ve been writing, I have to decide what events are worthy of remaining unresolved till the end of the book. and what should be taken care of right away. I have to figure out what will best satisfy the reader. I want to hear lots of ‘Ahhh, that’s what that meant…’ and ‘No! You’re kidding me! I love it,’ but please, no ‘Crap, that’s stupid.’ Or ‘You have got to be kidding me!’ See the subtle differences? Hopefully, my endings leave the reader with a warm, contented fullness and not gas! And you want to find another of my books (like ‘Summerbird Rises’) not the Delete button!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Have you been peeking at my manuscripts again? Heehee! Have you ever read an ending where you’re sure someone left off the last part of the book? Like they tore out a page, or a page just dropped off? Where’s the gratification??

The worst way of all to end a novel? “And they all lived happily ever after—till the aliens invaded. (Look for the sequel, coming soon: [Our hero] BATTLES THE ALIENS!)”
